Two practices that I implement that demonstrates I care for the students is first of all I allow students to share prayer requests at the beginning of course. We discuss how things are going in their lives and then pray about that. Second, I keep an open door where students can come to me during study halls or other free times and ask me questions about God and the Bible or anything else.

The one thing I do for my students is provide them treats from time to time, mainly lollipops on their birthdays or other times when I think they have earned them. I also tried tried to implement coffee shop Thursdays and Fridays, allowing students have make and have coffee during lecture time in English course. Try to provide a coffee shop atmosphere to relax the environment a bit. I try to emphasize to the students how much I care of them and how I am willing to work with them as much as I can.

One practice I would like to implement that would allow me to demonstrate my care for and commitment to my students is conversing with them about their passions and interests. It is easy for me to teach them content and sometimes forget to know them personally. Knowing them and their passions and interests is just as important as teaching them the content at hand. Therefore, I would like to be intentional in conversing with them about their passions and interests.

I would like to spend more time praying and asking students if they have concerns we could pray about. This would help me get to know the students better and be more invested. I could also see if one of them wants to pray on any given day. I would also like to discuss at least one scripture verse as time allows. A quicker start to course might permit the time for this.

I have two practices in my classroom that show commitment to my students. One of them is the extra credit games the day before an assessment. These games help my students boost their grade and review at the same time. The other practice is a prayer request box. One sweet student came up with the idea where students can fill out a prayer request and place it in the box. Thanks to that I am able to pray for my students when they have a special prayer request that they may not feel comfortable sharing during course.
