I think I’d like to implement a prayer wall in my classroom. A place where students can pick up a sticky note and write things they want me to be praying for.

At the beginning of course, I try to take a few minutes to ask my students how they are doing. Sometimes they want to share, and other times they give a thumbs up, thumbs down, or thumb to the middle sign, but taking time for this feedback shows them that I care. The wonderful thing about Christian education is that we can also take time to pray in course for our students when they are going through challenges. This is a practice that means a lot. We can do so many things to show our students that we care. They will see it through our lives!

I plan to re-introduce written short-term goals setting where students each reflect on areas they need to improve, and we discuss possible strategies together in mini conferences.

    1. I want to implement a weekly prayer meeting open to my students. I witnessed this in the middle school this past semester and I was so touched and blessed by the sight of seeing youth praying for one another. The power of God working in young people who are seeking Him is an amazing sight to behold!
    2. I would like to have, at a minimum, weekly conferences with each student in my charge to discuss anything they want to talk about. This can range from concerns to praises, happenings to struggles to questions to answers. Giving each student a full measure of my attention for even that small amount of time can build a relationship with each one that can last a lifetime. They learn that they are important, that what they face is purposeful, that I care and, more importantly, God cares for each of them.

I already let students know how much I care, and I encourage/motivate them to keep working hard.
