This is a different kind of response than most. I am from North Carolina, and I was a certified judge in the Miss America program. I knew many girls who won titles, and as a retired psychotherapist, I knew that many of them were looking for personal meaning for themselves in a crown. Several years ago, there was a Miss USA who had succeeded in every endeavor she had ever undertaken. She was “at the top of her game,” and one night she jumped out of the eighth story window of her New York apartment. I was devastated because I wished I could have been there to help with whatever led to this suicide. It became clear to me that she had never found joy and meaning in all her successes because none of them filled the void that she felt. Even though she was Miss USA, she was deposed royalty looking in the wrong place for peace. What a tragedy. She was looking for the wrong crown.

The greatest advantage is that it is the entirety of the Christian message in one argument. But it provides not just logic, but release. It allows the listener to come to repentance, forgiveness, and restoration through Christ.

The advantage of the deposed royalty argument is that, if developed to its logical conclusion, it brings out the whole Christian story of creation, fall, redemption, and restoration – in other words, the gospel in a nutshell. Moreover, it appeals better to the common folk than the cosmological, design and moral arguments, because all men can fell intuitively the emptiness of their lives, the accusation of their own consciences, and their quest for meaning in life. The deposed royalty argument explains all these elegantly.

Good created everything and it was Good. Adam/Eve freely picked Pride and sin causing the fall of man kind, Jesus came to reconcile use with our Holy God.

The best advantage is knowing we are created in God’s image and likeness which makes it possible for us to part of his royalty. Sin has deposed us, but Jesus Christ offers reconciliation to his royal family.
