1. The deposed royalty argument presupposes that God’s original design for humanity was good and perfect. It affirms the worth of humanity and provides the framework for understanding why we seek and appreciate beauty, truth, and ultimately—God.
2. The deposed royalty argument explains the human experience in all of its ugliness— and glorious potential through Jesus Christ. It affirms the complexity and struggle of human nature and points to the need for a savior.
3. The deposed royalty argument suggests restoration is possible. We know this to be true because of Christ’s death and resurrection.

It has the whole Christian story in mind. It naturally leads to redemption through Jesus Christ.

The term ‘deposed royalty’ sums up who we are. We were created to rule under the authority of God, but in our willfulness we usurped our authority in the desire to be as God ourselves. We are still loved by God, but He knows our willfulness will lead us astray and so God has deposed us. This term illustrates our inherent wealth and our actual poverty.

It doesn’t simply take God as designer or creator or lawgiver but has the whole Christian story in mind

Advantages of the deposed royalty argument include: simplicity (it can be communicated using a very brief outline), emotional connection (have we all not felt lost where we are and searching for a greater purpose), and all encompassing (without getting too deep, it still manages to strike a nerve).
