We learn God’s plan for the redemption of His children, and the extent of His love for us. We see how the Lord spoke prophesy showing us His incredible mercy. Also, we see how He protects and oversees us. God is in control and we can learn to trust Him by reading of His history.

Also, the OT provides us a foundation on which to build our faith in Jesus Christ by letting us know why he came to provide salvation to a lost people.

It tells about many similar issues that we still struggle with today and it is important to see how God worked in the midst of those issues then to help us understand how he may work through them today.
