What are some reasons one should study the Old Testament?

The Old Testament is the foundation of the Bible, and in it, we get to know our God, who remains the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Moreover, we can also see the faithfulness of God despite our sin, his unchanging love, and his sovereignty through the lives of His chosen people.

The first reason is that everything in the old testament points to Jesus. The second reason is it reveals the nature of God.

The OT is God’s word, lays up to understand NT, we can learn from the stories in OT, strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ.

I believe the Old Testament lays the foundation for the life and purpose of Jesus Christ.

I believe it gives a better understanding for who we are and how sinful man is. We see the practical need for dependance on God in the Old Testament much more than the new or even in life today. So many people never feel like they ever NEED God because they feel self-sufficient, and the Old Testament showed how much Israel had to rely on the Lord to get out of sticky situations
