What are some reasons one should study the Old Testament?

We can’t know who we really are without the OT, because without the OT we can’t know who God is, and since we are made in His image, we need to know (study the OT).

It is the foundation and is needed to fully understand the NT. The Old Testament tells us about Jesus Christ. the OT Tells us who he is, his character, and mighty deeds in its records.

It all points to Jesus the Messiah. So we need to study the Old just as much as the New to see how it points to Jesus.

The Old Testament provides historical information about Jewish faith and early Christianity. It helps us understand the events that have happened and why. It tells us about Gods holiness. It also tells us about the agreements between God and His people

As someone who as worked in the construction industry, the belief that the Old testament is the foundation makes total sense. You can put on the roof (New Testament) until the Foundation (Old Testament) is known. It would seem to me like readying a book backwards if you don’t read the Old Testament.
