What are some reasons one should study the Old Testament?

We should study the Old Testament because it tells us about God, it answers questions about how life began, it inspire us to holy living, and it fills our heats with gratitude and praise.

Studying the Old Testament allows us to have a better understanding of God’s promises to us; It helps us to see how people live and survive in Old Testament times and to learn from their mistakes or sins and how God reacted. After all, what’s happening now is what was happening then, so learning from others’ mistakes, is always beneficial.

There are various reasons for studying the Old Testament. We NEED factual historical info. We NEED faith building knowledge. It is imperative that we know from whence God made life and also know about our failures and accomplishments; God’s laws and precepts are also important.

Primarily to understand why the Christ was necessary. Also to grasp the concept that God Himself was been working with sinners and the outcasts of society for a very long time.
