It provides the foundation for the whole Bible and faith in Christ. It also help us to know God and tells us about the coming Redeemer of mankind who will save us from our sins after the fall of man in the garden of Eden.

There are many reasons why someone should study the Old Testament. First, it reveals God’s character which shows how he continues to act in today’s world as God is unchanging. Second, it gives us a deeper understanding of who Christ is through types such as the Passover and the sacrificial system. Third, it helps us better understand the culture Jesus grew up in which gives us a better understanding of the New Testament.

To get a foundation for the entire Bible. Learn about God and His characteristics. To see how man has arrived from creation to ancient times, also a view of man’s character and how it hasn’t changed.

It helps us see God’s heart for His people and to have a better grasp of His perfect justice and mercy.
It helps us see Jesus and understand Him as part of the Trinity – at the beginning with God.
It gives us proper perspective and context for New Testament understanding.
There are so many good, detailed accounts of the lives of those before Christ, and we can glean so much wisdom from their examples and lives (good and bad)
We miss out on so much of our spiritual history if we don’t -
One should study the Old Testament in order to learn the foundations upon which we build the New Testament and our lives today. We must fully understand our God and his expectations of his children. We cannot believe that 39 books of the Bible are unimportant. Simply put, if it were not valuable to us to study the Old Testament, then it would not be in the Bible.
