What are some reasons one should study the Old Testament?

The Old Testament tells about who God is, how our world and even ourselves began, how we should live, and is filled with prophecy that we can see unfold in the New Testament.

I believe that one should study the Old Testament to gain a better and greater understanding of who God is, what He represents and to make sure that our foundation is strong and secure in the knowledge that He is Lord above all.
