What are some strengths of the idea of intelligent design?

The first strength is based on the idea that something creates other things into existence but this does not apply to God – as God is without beginning or ending. Therefore, the aspect of something creating God is not logical. The second strength is based on the great precision that is the foundation of science, the ratios and forces that point to an intelligent designer.

Intelligent design states that there is some intelligence behind biology to account for its complexity and certain functions. Given the kind of organisms that we are and the organism we find, the idea of intelligent intervention makes more sense than Darwinism. We have to be designed or come from something. Darwinism does not state where matter or organisms originally came from. It just states it came from some other organism. It makes more sense to argue that the universe shows signs of design, and through fine-tuning you see the beauty of the world and the hand of God in biological organisms, it seems to be that God intervened by injecting intelligent design into the history of life on earth.

It has a commonsense principle of Okums Razor to it. It supports the fossil evidence of found where many different kinds of fossils are found in very close proximity to each other.

The complexity of our world and even the most minute detail of our being, our DNA, points to the fact that Someone thought about and came up with a design for our existence. Dr. Groothuis discusses the motor of a particular bacteria called flagellum which was recently discovered in science. There are at least 40 parts to this motor. Darwin would suggest that these 40 plus parts sprang up one at a time over a period of time. According to forensic investigation however, all must parts need to co-exist and function at the same time in order for this motor to function and thus this bacteria to exist. This speaks to a Divine hand creating this organism versus this organizing developing over time. This is an example of the strength for the idea of Intelligent Design.
