Continuous learning. Taking courses that will help to strengthen and challenge me not only academically, but also Biblically. I also have a stack of books on my desk at home… books that will educate me, in my “free time” on being a more intentional Christian school teacher.

For my growth, I listen to podcasts, attend church, meet with Christian friends, read the Bible daily, quote the Bible, and share a verse here and there with others.

As a teacher, I understand the importance of having a growth mindset in order to continually improve my skills and produce high-quality work. Here are some techniques that I have used and continue to use to encourage a growth mindset in myself. I need to see challenges as opportunities to learn and grow, rather than as obstacles. When I encounter a difficult task, I remind myself that God is with me, and the effort I put into overcoming it will ultimately lead to personal and professional growth.

I remind myself that I’m never done learning and I am always reading materials in my subject area.

Personally, having a growth mindset by myself is very difficult. However, when I’m involved in a community, especially a community of believers, I am so much more motivated. The call to spur one another on to love and good deeds in Heb. 10:34 is very clear and it produces godly results. When I am able to share my struggles with someone else, they are able to encourage me with the truth of God. When I am discouraged about lack of growth in an area, my fellow believers are able to point out where they have seen God at work and reassure me that He will continue to make me more and more like Him.
