Devotions and notes in my Bible keep me accountable but also are an amazing reminder of where I have been and what God has done in my life.

I read a lot, but I have also gotten into listening to a number of Christian podcasts to keep up on the current events from a Christian perspective. I choose to spend time each week with people of differing ages, backgrounds and beliefs to learn to listen and try to see things from their viewpoint.

I often use teacher collaboration to increase my engagment with best practices. When other teachers; new and tenured, come along side me (and me with them), I stretch my understanding of classroom strategies I have used a long time or embrace new strategies that I see other teachers using and embracing. There is nothing like real-time feedback with other teachers.

I intentionally make time to take care of the distractions in my life. It’s been a rough couple of years personally. Not being distracted by the other parts of life gives me time to reflect and grow. I also tackle student challenges as a time for self-growth. When students struggle to grasp a concept, I learn every possible way I can to reteach the concepts. I have had many opportunities to learn more and more strategies over the last few years. This allows my toolbox to become fuller and my growth as a teacher to become more whole.
