What are some techniques you have used, or currently use, to encourage a growth mindset in yourself?

In order to encourage a growth mindset within myself, I read, chat, and listen. I enjoy reading various genres of books. Many encourage me to keep learning new things. In addition to many fun novels, I read Scripture, various devotions, and books by Christian authors. I talk with fellow believers who encourage me to keep learning. My group at church pushes me to dive deeper into Scripture to answer big questions. I also talk with my students who ask great questions during course time which often push me to dive deeper into a certain subject area. I listen to my friends who share what they are currently learning in the Scriptures, at church, and through podcasts.

A technique I’ve used to encourage a growth mindset in myself is to push through when something seems impossible to accomplish. Usually after that initial hurdle, I can see things clearer, and they now seem possible. Another technique, I’ve used is to analyze past situations where I could improve my attitude or actions which helps me to be open to continue learning.

Some techniques I have used to encourage growth mindset are to create a safe environment for my students. I also ask a lot of open ended and scenario questions during whole group learning.

I challenge my own children to try new things and be their best for God. As a result it has pushed me to do the same. I ask for help, seek information online, and am willing to consider new ideas or strategies.

As an Art Teacher, I love what I do and love coming up with new projects for the students. I have many avenues that I daily use to look for inspiration. I then research how to do the inspirational projects and keep then in digital files. Though I follow a basic outline of objects for each year, within those objectives their are endless ways to teach them. Each year I evaluate what I did before and either embrace the good or change it up.
