What are some techniques you have used, or currently use, to encourage a growth mindset in yourself?

I am a very social person, so the easiest technique for me to use is communicating with other teachers. I am surrounded by peers that have more experience than I do and I learn so much from talking with them and listening to them when they share. I also tend to ask questions about things and try to understand the why behind what is being done.

I challenge myself to try new ways to teach.

As teachers, I believe we are the lead learners and we need to set the tone in our classrooms that we are coming alongside our students and learning too. If we are learning then we are seeking to expand our knowledge and lean into God’s wisdom as we explore new chapters of our field of study.

I teach my students the power of yet, but it works for me as well. If I am unable to do something, I remind myself that I may not be able to do it yet, but with growth mindset I will be able to do it if I put my mind to it.

I try to remind myself that I want to be a life long learner. That there is always something to learn! I work hard to stay on top of the new things happening in my field of teaching by watching tutorials and following articles to keep me in the know.
