These concepts can be implemented in many different ways in the classroom. During conversations scriptures can be quoted as evidence to make a concept relatable for students. Following the pattern that Jesus exemplified by referring to scripture, quoting scripture, and witnessing with experience can be powerful. I was intrigued by the use of the word tolerance and depicted as the new god with a lower-case G. When ideas and philosophies are false it is better to respectfully point of why the concept is false and then provide truth. As a teacher, these concepts would flow seamlessly in classroom during genuine teaching moments if conversations were held with true principles from the living word.

I think the biggest overall concept that I could pull from this lesson is the importance of the repetition of scripture. I think that it is important to interweave the scriptures through the lessons.

I teach that we as believers have to be aware of truth, that it doesn’t change or shift, and that God’s word remains the same through time.

Be purposed and less “PC” with answers to students. Jesus was honest and yet direct. The Lord knew dancing around an incorrect Philosophy was just dancing. People deserve honest, open direction and that includes the children and youth.

Christ is the perfect example of how a teacher should approach and teach lessons to their students. If he answered their questions using scripture, so should I as an educator. He was also a scholar of the scriptures, knowing them inside and out, ready to quote and apply them when questions arose. I too need to be a student of the Word. It would serve my students and I well for me to be immersed in scripture daily. Not just superficially and sporadically, but really diving deep consistently in both the old and new testaments. Only when I know and understand God’s truths, can I teach them and help students apply them to their questions and lessons.
In addition to our daily Bible lessons, I want to encourage the kiddos to be students of the Word also. I think implementing a scripture journal would be a great way to do that. Taking our weekly memory verse a step father. We could explore context, meaning, connections to other verses in the Bible, life application, etc.
