What are some ways you can apply the concepts learned in this lesson in your classroom?

I teach biology and environmental science so it is simple to bring scripture into teaching about the majesty of God’s creation. Students spend a course day researching scripture for instruction on learning about creation and taking care of it. I do a Life project in which students research the four biblical words for life and differentiate each of them, highlighting scripture to back up their uses and meaning. We do a 10 plagues project in Environmental Science, showing how God might have used environmental phenomenon.

To know, and teach students to know that Biblical truth is the only truth. There is no such thing as “your truth” or “their truth” etc.

It matters who teaches our children! It matters what I believe and I have the responsibility to come along side my students and foster, encourage and build their belief system. I can’t do that if I am not walking in my faith daily. I will put my relationship with God above all and not get bogged down by daily activities and stresses.

One way to make scripture important in my classroom this coming year is to have students bring Bibles to school. It’s unfortunate that Bibles are really seen even at church these days. Although we have Bible curriculum to go through, I will make sure that the first 10 days be used to teach kids the books of Bible, how it’s broken up, show them the other Bible components, and how to read the Bible. Before correcting a child, I will quote scripture and make sure that the Word is coming up throughout the day so that my kids can see that truly God is the creator, all knowledge and His word is useful for everything too.

There are many ways to integrate this lesson in my classroom. One is to discuss the importance or scripture and Bible versus to students as Jesus was a scholar himself and often quoted scripture. Also, that all things point to God. The bible answers all of the big questions in life. I really liked the mention of the book of Proverbs and how we are reproof and correction but in a loving manner. This will be a perfect example on when to gently discipline students and how to discuss the reasoning for it with them.
