What are some ways you can apply the concepts learned in this lesson in your classroom?

Remembering that Scripture is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, rather than just using my own words to encourage or correct the students, I can use Bible verses. I would like to put some on notecards or on my classroom walls so they are handy to pull out and use with the students.

First, I need to be humbled by my role in communicating biblical truth to my students. Secondly, I can always point back to the author of our faith as the one who authors the knowledge. I can make sure that the books I teach and the math lessons we explore have, at their heart, the centrality of scripture.

Using 2 Timothy 3:16 we can deduce that the use of scripture is essential for having a foundational framework for Christian philosophy in my classroom. One thing that I took away from this lessons is that the word of God needs to be more at the center of my lessons. Learning scripture means learning about salvation and I want to make sure somewhere in each lesson I can point back to Christ through the Bible. It is important to me to be able to clear up any questions or misunderstandings students might have about their salvation.

Two things I took away from this lesson. First of all it is important to cover all of Scripture including the parts that are difficult to understand. Afterall, 2 Timothy 216:17 says that ALL Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. I think this is an important reminder. Second, it is loving to share the truth with grace. Tolerance does not mean we have to agree and conform to the world but we can love while also graciously speaking the truth. Hopefully if this is modeled to the students they will have a favorable view of God's word and in turn present the truth to others in the same way.

I’m planning to continue sharing scripture and asking my students to think how they can apply it to their lives. Teaching a second language can be challenging for many reasons. However, it is an opportunity to open doors to many students. I can share about different cultures, countries, customs. I will talk about the community service opportunities where students could share the love of Christ using a second language. I will continue to encourage them to go on the school’s mission trip or to join one at their church.
