The best way to address issues with students in the classroom is by going back to the Scriptures. As teachers we can let the Scriptures do the correcting for us and this will resonate with the students more than lectures and using child psychology. The Word of God is powerful and it is the only thing that can truly change a heart. There is no actual change happening if we just focus on managing behavior. True wisdom will be imparted from God’s word and lasting changes will result. That is why we need to keep the scriptures at the center of all instruction in the classromm, using every subject as an oportunity for Biblical integration and not missing those precious teachable moments that come to us.

This lesson underscores the centrality of scripture by emphasizing how Christ himself held this to be accurate and demonstrated it by always addressing what scripture told. It matters that the Christian teacher emulates Christ in using scripture to inform instruction, for it is God’s inspired word that gives me confidence in teaching, correcting, and training my students in righteousness that equips them for every good work that God has purposed for them to do (2Timothy, 3:16-19).

The students in my school are responsible for memorizing scripture each week from Kindergarten all the way to 12th grade. In my world language classroom, I feel it is my job to instruct them to learn the scripture and the relevant vocabulary to share that scripture with other cultures around the world.

I teach that scripture is the inspiration of God. Just like federal agents identify counterfeit currency through their intimate knowledge of the real thing, it is believer’s knowledge of the truth that will enable them to identify error. The way that students present themselves to God is important.
