I currently teach in a secular setting, so I cannot explicitly teach passages of Scripture. I can, however, prayerfully approach the content that I teach, and the methods and resources that I use to teach it. I can pray that God would give me wisdom and show me truth throughout each day, and that He provide me with opportunities and guidance to impart it in a way the honors Him. I can seek God’s guidance in how to handle classroom management and discipline. I can lean on God to help me to lead by example: “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…” 1 Peter 3:15

For each topic we study, I can use Bible verses to confirm our scientific observations. For example, when studying anatomy, I can teach the biblical concept that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. As we look at natural disasters like volcanic eruptions, I can explain how rock layers and fossils are formed quickly, as evidence for a young Earth described in the Bible, rather than slowly over millions of years according to evolutionary theory. My students can go on a “treasure hunt” to find Scriptures connected to the topic they are studying or presenting.

Spend more time studying and meditating on Scripture before I teach each day. Pray that the Holy Spirit will direct my teaching. Pray for my students and opportunities to witness to them.

To continue to point to scripture as the guide to the rules, reproof, and requests within my classroom.

Share Scripture with my students. Show them how God’s Word applies to what I am teaching.
