I use the NKJV study Bible(Jeremiah Study Bible) and the Life Application Study Bible. I chose these versions because they are easier to understand the wording instead of KJV; also we use the NKJV at my church(not demanded but better for unity and continuity). I often use my NKJV study bible or a standard NKJV for devotional reading.

I appreciate multiple Bible translations because each serves a different purpose. For in-depth <strong data-start=”106″ data-end=”121″>Bible study, I prefer a <strong data-start=”134″ data-end=”173″>word-for-word (literal) translation like the <strong data-start=”183″ data-end=”281″>King James Version (KJV), New King James Version (NKJV), or the English Standard Version (ESV). These translations stay closer to the original Hebrew and Greek texts, making them more reliable for interpretation and doctrinal accuracy.

For devotional reading, I sometimes use a thought-for-thought (dynamic equivalence) translation, such as the New International Version (NIV) or New Living Translation (NLT). These versions make the text more readable and help with personal reflection and application.

I also find <strong data-start=”717″ data-end=”771″>The Message (MSG) or The Passion Translation (TPT) useful for gaining fresh perspectives, though I do not rely on them for doctrinal study since they are more paraphrased.

Using multiple translations allows for a balanced approach, combining accuracy with clarity. What translation do you prefer, and why?

I really like the NLT because it is very poetic.

I switch between the NLT, NIV and the Message. I use the same whether I’m studying the Bible or for devotional reading.
