What Bible translation do you use and why? Do you use a different translation or paraphrase for devotional reading than you do for Bible study?

I use the following translations NKJ,NIV, and NLT because my church has suggested those the most. I don’t think I use a different translation for devotional reading. I will use the NLT version for this course.

I generally use the KJV/ NKJV of the Bible. I find that some of the words have a deeper meaning than in other translations. Same for devotional reading. I will try and use the NIV and the Good News Bibles as well for this course.

I use a word for word translation. Today I use the ESV Study Bible. I do not use a different translation for devotional reading but I should and if I did I would use a paraphrase like the NLT. I will be using the ESV in this course as it uses modern day English grammar and is a scholarly product of word for word translating.

I use the NIV translation. I am able to understand that one better. I use this one for everything and will be using it for this course.

I use the NIV translation, for no particular reason other than that was given to me as a gift when I began my journey in Christ last year.
