What Bible translation do you use and why? Do you use a different translation or paraphrase for devotional reading than you do for Bible study?

I use the NASB because it is the easiest for me to understand and is supposed to be the closest to the original texts for accuracy. I don’t do devotional readings but have started to use Accordance and Blue Letter Bible for any other study help that I need.

I primarily read NIV, for numerous reasons, including it is what we read from in our church services and Bible studies. I use the online Blue Letter Bible to easily switch between translations and dive into the Greek and Hebrew concordances it contains. Sometimes I enjoy the NLT because it is so readable, but I’m told to be cautious in using it for interpretation.

We use the NLT for Devotional or longer readings, and ESV or NIV for Bible Study.
