I’ve found that I’m a very audio/visual learner and seem to be able to connect best with God when I have something audible to listen to, as well as something to focus my eyes and attention on. I’m currently using Our Daily Bread daily devotionals in print format and it seems to work the best for my needs. I have learned that bite-sized format of the word of God tend to be easiest for me to digest and retain.

I have used Bible reading plans and have done journaling but I failed to be consistent because of my work hours. I am a cook in a nursing home and I get up at 3:30 am and I am working nonstop until I am off at 1:30 pm. When I get home I am tired and I try to get in some reading and studying but my mind is tired and I grow sleepy. I am praying for a spirit of diligence and consistency. If you have any suggestions please feel free to reply or any feedback. I would love to stay with just one method until I get into the habit of multitasking with different methods.

I’ve used Bible reading plans, journaling, and reflecting on passages, and I’d like to try memorizing Scripture and using prayerful meditation to deepen my devotionals. What about you—what methods have worked best for you or what would you like to try?

I often use something that we call the “Discovery Bible Study Method”. I ask, what does this passage say about God? What does it say about people? By God’s grace, how will you obey? Who will you share this passage with?

I currently use the mornings to devote myself and recommit my will to Christ’s care and control. I read the bible and some devotionals.
