For example, I come across messages of healing, messages of grace, messages of redemption. What I then do is cue up Scriptures of that and meditate on it. In the future, I’m going to apply the year long reading plan, to get through all the Bible, and grow in the faith.

Prepare your heart – Read the text – Examine it further – Seek to apply – Submit everything to God

I would like to add/try praying from my prayer journal while listening to instrumental music.

I write down notes that I want to meditate on, search out the Hebrew or Greek work definition if a word catches my attention,. Sometimes I look up commentaries to help, as well as reading from a few different translations if I feel I am not really getting the meaning of the portion I read.

Now I am using The Bible in One Year by Nicky Gumbel, which has me reading a passage from OT, a passage from NT and a Psalm or Proverb each day. Nicky’s devotional always finds a common theme/lesson/application from all 3 passages. Sometimes I journal after I read and sometimes I listen to worship music while I pray. I would like to try the two suggestions in this lesson after I am done with this one.
