What devotional methods have you used in the past? Which would you like to try in the future?

In the morning time I fill a calmness in myself. I always start out with the prayer Jesus taught use. (The Lord’s Prayer). Then a feel in my soul what I want to say to my Father. Sometimes it’s about joy and happiness and sometimes it’s not, but afterwards I fell a peace within me and sometimes I feel that it was something routine. I would like to share my thoughts with other Christians about talking to God in similar ways and what their feelings were and how God talked to them.

The devotional methods that I have used in the past are: set time, set place, set reading, listening for God and journaling. I have studied by books of the Bible and by topics. I would like to try the perspective of God’s word as a love letter to me. I think this would give me the encouragement and discipline to meet with Him on a daily carved out time.

I have tried several devotionals in the last few years. I did not get as much out of them as I did just studying the Bible. I am not opposed to devotionals I just do not think I have found the one that fits me most. I might check out the ones that were mentioned in the lesson.
