What devotional methods have you used in the past? Which would you like to try in the future?

I have used a variety of devotional methods. I have read devotionals in magazines, books, and my Bible. I have studied the Bible topically, and written notes. I have also studied books, and passages of Scripture. Writing really helps me when I am having a study/devotional time. I feel like I interact more with the Word when I write.

I have just set aside devotional time I plan on starting Journaling and just let His word speak to me.

I have read Daily Bread before and enjoyed following the daily prompts. I’ve followed other devotionals and looked forward to each one, I like the stories connecting me to the Word of God.

I use the Our Daily Bread Bible study reading plan to guide my daily readings in the Old Testament/New Testament. After reading the Scriptures, then I read the applicable verses in a Bible Commentary — reading the Bible along with a different Bible Commentary from cover to cover every year. I also read two other online devotionals from Dr. Charles Stanley (In Touch Ministries) and Greg Laurie (Harvest Ministries) as well as two other ODB devotional books every morning first thing when I get up before doing anything else for the day. I meditate on all those readings during the day and I pray short prayers multiple times during the day.

In the past I tried to read a passage at random, it didn’t work for me. I struggled understanding the application.
I now listen to OBD devotional from a link in my email. I am able to do my Bible in a year as well as listen to daily devotional. I do this in the morning when I am getting ready for the day.
