What devotional methods have you used in the past? Which would you like to try in the future?

I don’t understand what you mean by “devotional method”. My husband and I have devotional time after breakfast. We read Mr. & Mrs; Billy Graham’s Wisdom; ODB digital; and my husband translates a Proverb from Hebrew to English. We spend time discussing the different topics from each devotional.

I use YouVersion verse of the day then devotional plans,I also use Our Daily Bread.

I am working through John MacArthur’s 33-volume Commentary on the New Testament. I am also a fan of picking up trusted leaders’ books on specific topics or books of the Bible and reading them. Daily Bible study is a discipline I want to employ more consistently.

I have used several different types, but where I lack is consistency which really bothers me. I use the Bible App, prayer journals, Bible reading, church two or three times a week. Prayer and study with wife and family. But I just don’t have the personal time I desire. The best time spent with my Lord has always been alone in the closet.

I find that I best hear from the Lord and know it is Him, and not just me reading into scripture what I want it to say when whatever method I study it is already scheduled out for me (i.e. 1 Psalm a day, 1 chapter of Proverbs a day, Chronological through the Bible in a year, etc.). Generally I like to do in-depth book studies during the day when have a gap in my work schedule and also read one Psalm at night before bed to reflect and process my emotions for the day. A great in-depth way to study God’s Word is through Bible Study Fellowship Online (https://www.bsfinternational.org). No matter where you are in the world you can join a discussion group and fellowship with other believers as you study together.
