What devotional methods have you used in the past? Which would you like to try in the future?

Mainly through daily bread devotional resources I received quarterly. Through prayers and a good study bible.

Similar to some of the others here, over the years I have used different methods of connecting with God for devotional times. At times, I’ve used ODB, other written devotionals, journaling, straight Scripture reading, through the Bible in a year sources, or simply asking the Holy Spirit where I should read that day. That’s my favorite as He knows what’s ahead and can prepare me for what’s coming.

I have used various methods – daily bread, devotional books, or reading through the bible. I find I need to change quite regularly.

I have used the 3 minute Our Daily Bread devotional that has been emailed to me for years every morning. I used to use the physical copy but I find the interaction of a Daily email to be more motivating to me. It is a task “I get done” but also time I use to spend with God and remember to pray and praise Him at least once a day despite my now busy schedule.

I really like Bible software, it gives insight into original language sense of the text, it also give cross-references which allow for greater depth and understanding of the passage, the context and the meaning. And I agree with an earlier comment that walking is a great opportunity to listen to the Word, but more importantly to spend time in prayer. It is enough of a distraction that helps keep me focused on my prayer.
