I use Bible Gateway’s yearly bible reading app. This with the numerous hours I spend preparing for weekly sermons give me many hours in the word. Timing for my personal devotions is first-thing when I get up seems to be the best for me. Over the years is has become a good habit that I can’t do without.

I have tried many approaches. I have done jack Hayford’s Spirit-Filled study, our daily bread and You version, and have been with Bible Study Fellowship for many years. Most importantly I devote time in the morning to study for 50 minutes each day, and my wife and i pray together after dinner every day.

I have used study guides from Chuck Swindoll, a few versions of One-Year-Bible-Reading plan, Oswald Chambers’ My Utmost for His Highest, etc. I’d like to continue on with a guided book or thematic study.

I usually took some time to read ODB devotional reading and played some music with my guitar or piano. However, I have stopped having personal devotion for quite a long time because I am not disciplined enough. I think I should be more intentional again in the future to have my personal devotion.

Any devotional methods I may have used in the past most likely are the usual methods mentioned from other worshippers so, truly it was nothing new and not much special. What I would like to try may be not having to choose any devotional methods and interact directly with God as we do with one another. Maybe how devotions are while in heaven living with God is the method I like for devotion and praise
