What devotional methods have you used in the past? Which would you like to try in the future?

I’ve used ODB devotionals and my pastor Sunday sermon. Once Bible Study Fellowship begins in the Fall I will use it for my daily devotional.

I have used published devotionals by various authors (e.g., New Morning Mercies by Paul David Tripp) as well as various plans that have been downloaded from the internet.
One idea that was recently introduced is one that mimics that of meal prepping. Meal prepping, in the dietary context, is when you prepare all your food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for the entire week at the beginning of the week so that when time comes to eat all you have to do is grab and go. In the devotional context, you “prep” seven passages throughout the week that you “consume” at the scheduled time.

What devotional methods have you used in the past? – I have used methods like Discovery Bible Study, (S)cripture (O)bservation (A)pplication (P)rayer, topical studies, character studies, etc.
I would like to try studies like Biographical Method, and Book Synthesis studies.

There a number of resources I tried such as ODB devotion book, follow church designated Bible reading plan and use SOAP principle. I think Scripture, observation, application and prayer principle is the best as it makes me ponder deeply what I read. God has never fail to reveals His gem of truth to me each day.

I have been reading Our Daily Bread quite regularly in the morning. I would like to add to that by having a midday conversation time.
