I think when we understand those questions it makes it easier to understand the Bible

These steps are essential to getting any context out of what passage we are reading. If I am reading in the book of Jonah, until I understand who he was, where he was sent, how he got there, and what message God gave I can never understand the reaction of either the Assyrians, or of God to them.

I once heard it said that the six macro-observation steps are like taking a 3500 ft view of the land. Things you would not see if you were on the ground. Since taking this approach, my study of the Bible has been more impactful and my understanding a lot clearer. I have found that my Interpretation of a passage was incorrect because I did understand the theme or context of the book I was studying. So yes, this is great information.

These six macro-observation questions are essential to understanding exactly what the scripture is explaining to the reader. The more detailed that we are in our studies, the more accurate we will be in our understanding.

Identifying Who, What, How, Where, When, and Why helps us understand the story the Bible is trying to tell us. The lessons are specific to the present audience in the story and are also lessons for us today.
