What do you think the lecturer means when she says “loving one another is based on truth”? Why is this an important concept to understand?

I believe the lecturer means that a real demonstration of Christian love is sharing the life-changing gospel which shows the ‘truth’ about a person’s past, present and eternity. It is an important concept to understand so that we are not misled into thinking that love is demonstrated when untruths (or even half- truths) are tolerated just to be respectful or to avoid hurting someone’s feelings.

It is an important concept to understand because people have their own opinion of what they believe is right or wrong, but when our love is based on truth we cannot go wrong.

Jesus calls us to love, even when it is hard. It is based on truth from the scriptures.

We can get a mixed of view of what love is based on wanting to be accepted by others. This helps us to reevaluate what love is.

If I truly love others I will share the truth of the Gospel with them even if it’s difficult for them to hear.
