Love is a deep and lasting interest in another person’s well-being and happiness; it gives- just as God through Christ Jesus reconciled man back unto Himself, and while we were yet sinners God demonstrated this same love for us by sending Christ to die for us. And now that we believe, love Jesus, and keep His Word; He promised His Father will love us, come to us, and they will make their home within us. Now because they live in us, we to love others with the heart of God and the mind of Christ

Just as in John 15:12 says, ”that you love one another as I have loved you.” For this reason, I should love my students too for that is the truth.

I love this statement. She is saying that love must be based on reality and based on the truth of scripture. God’s word defines love for us in many ways – a few verses come to mind : 1. Greater love has no man than this, that he would lay his life down for a friend. 2. We love because He first loved us. 3. Love is patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, keeps no record of wrongs, REJOICES in the truth.

I believe as a society most people are prone to putting band aids on problems that arise or issues that come up. I think loving one another based on truth means to point others towards Christ and his Word. It is important to lovingly point someone who has lost focus back to the foundation of our faith which is found only in the Word of God.

The most loving thing we can do for others is to graciously speak the truth… If we see children headed for danger, the best thing we can do is rescue them. When we speak the truth to our students in love and gentleness, we in a way, are steering them away from certain danger(s). This reproof and correction- based in God’s Word- is the best way to safeguard our students and build them up in wisdom and righteousness.
