It is an important concept to understand because love is how mankind was able to receive the gift of Salvation. One of the descriptions of love can be identified in 1 Corinthians 12:4-8.

We will love others, like God commands, but to truly love them means we shouldn’t tolerate different ideas and philosophies without trying to “rescue them,” just like the example of the child running in to the street. We can graciously speak truth and lead them to scripture, which is given by God for correction.

It is more a worldly truth when they remove the why? Why should we love? Well, Because Jesus made it a point often to express the importance of loving each other. When the worlds eliminates who the direction came from, they are eliminating the author.

But love does not mean we have to accept the opinions of others as fact or agree with them. Culture likes this truth and promotes it, but it also disregards other truths in scripture at the same time. As a follower of Christ we cannot pick and choose which truths to adopt and reject. We need to be aware of this pattern around us and be able to differentiate between popular opinion and what God has to say.
