If love is not based on Truth, it is nothing. God, Who is Truth, said that He is love. Any divergence from this tarnishes His character.

Use God’s love to discipline, knowing that grace, mercy and fairness should all be used with this immense love. Just like He does with each one of us.

Loving one another is a command found in many places in the Bible. It should be seen as highly important. But we should look to how Christ loved people and how he treats them. In the classroom, that can look like giving grace and also giving fair discipline. It can look like caring for someone when they are hurt or including those around you no matter who they are. It is rooted in the truth that we are all equal to Christ.

Because John 13:34-35 says to love one another as I have loved you. The Bible is truth! Correcting and instruction are done out of love, otherwise we would just ignore if we didn’t.

It is not showing love to ignore an offense or sin of another, to ignore the truth. It is also not love to harshly rebuke others just to point out truth. Love and truth must go together.
