The doctrine of the necessity to speak in tongue is taught by some denominations as the proof of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I respond to those who defend such belief by a systematic study of the Word of God.

One of those with which I have had difficulty with is the doctrine of the Pentecostals movement that “one must speak in tongues in order to be saved.” No, no, no I say but I’ve been accused over the years by many who say I can’t be saved because I don’t have the gift of tongues. Folks have even tried to “teach me the gift” which makes no sense to me at all. Yes it is real, yes it is one of the gifts, no it is not a requirement for salvation. On that I do stand generally leading to an argument so I try not to go there.
