While it is important to have students who are well-educated, our job as Christian educators is about so much more than just creating smart students. Our job as Christian educators is to bring the student to a place of knowledge to function in this world while also recognizing that as people of the Kingdom of God, that students are simply in the world, not of it.

Christian education develops nurturing, competent and cognitive individuals. It lays a firm foundation for students to acquire a biblical Christian worldview, a conceptual understanding of their academics, and critical thinking skills. Through Christian education, learners are supported to think independently and to make informed decisions based on Biblical principles. It also fosters a sense of community and encourages children to cultivate strong relationships with their peers, teachers, and families. Christian education equips learners with the essential tools to navigate life’s challenges with wisdom and grace, Hopefully producing God-fearing young men and women.

In education, especially Christian education, we are teaching the whole person. Knowledge is one element of what makes a successful student. Having social ability, managing emotions, quality peer and adult relationships, and a relationship with Christ are all marks that we would look to as marks of success. None of these have to do with cognitive ability or classical intelligence.

What is more important than raising a generation that is just competent cognitively is that the generation is competent spiritually and has discernment according to the Word.

It’s very important now a days to have a complete and competent education, but as Christian educators, we must be always looking for the opportunity to remind our students about our eternal life. This is not all, for those who have put their trust in Christ, we will have a party in heaven, :o) and we will be complete in Him at last.
