What does Dr. Teague mean when he says, “Integration was never the legitimate starting point for a godly pedagogy”?

Dr Teague means that Those who are called to teach must be knowledgeable of the bible. Teachers who already know the Bible will be able to integrate biblical teachings into the curriculum.

Godly pedagogy starts with teachers knowing the Bible already. It is the starting point, and then we add in the “curriculum”. As Ellen said, the Bible should infuse everything we do in the classroom. It is not just added in later.

Dr. Teague means that integration does not start or stand on its own. Integrations starts with a foundation of biblical truth and an acknowledgement that God is God and we are His creation.

I think Dr. Teague meant that we need to have a foundation of the Word built and established in our own lives. We do not simply insert in Bible verses.

Integration can not occur until a solid knowledge of and personal application of God’s word into your personal life and learning is received and developing. Only after being transformed by the renewing of your heart and mind can you then integrate those biblical truths into student learning.
