Every day brings new situations for us to respond to. As Christian educators, we are modeling and teaching the truths of God’s word so that students know that God’s love, mercy, power, and grace are within them and following them every day and every minute. They have everything they need and the source of everything they need to live an abundant life here on earth and in heaven.

When the lecturer says you are here to educate your students for eternity she means that you are teaching your students that this life we are living isn’t going to last. We are put here on earth to believe in Jesus and know him fully. Also to live out what God has for us to do as far as our gifts and talents go and our goal is to get to heaven.

Our main goal as a Christian and a Christian educator is for our students to also know and to serve God. We want to see them in eternity with us.

The influence as a teacher on students is profound. Teachers open doors to understanding and truths that can be hidden when students are not led to them by a teacher that cares. This influence is like planting a seed in which God will water for years to come and these seeds are planted by teachers. Each teacher puts a bit of themselves in to their students for years to come those gentle reminders can pop up and direct. We are called to love the little children as God loves us and being a teacher is clearly aligned to this understanding

Truly, I am reminded of a book study I have done followed by attending a seminar offered by the author. John Bevere’s book titled, Driven By Eternity, speaks volumes. Pieces of that text can easily be shared with students, helping them to understand that every choice they make today will affect their eternity. There is a song (I am sorry, I do not recall the name or artist) that shares the message that we will all live forever, we just have to choose where. Whether we like it or not, all will continue on for eternity, but not all will have an eternal LIFE. When we can show our students that how they live, the choices they make, the people they serve, the gods or God they choose to follow will determine where they will spend that eternity, we hand them the keys to Heaven’s Gate. We have to live, breathe, teach from an eternal mindset, knowing that every decision we make and the ones our students make based on what we teach, will affect all of our eternities.
