I love this quote. What we are teaching has eternal meaning and consequences for our students.

In Matthew 6: 31-33, we are told, “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” In this verse, we are presented with the mandate not to worry about earthly things but first to pursue God’s kingdom (that which is eternal), and He will take care of our earthly lives. Learning and applying this principle is a lifetime endeavor, beginning at the earliest age. Christian educators have a unique obligation and opportunity to reinforce this every day in the classroom.

Educating students for eternity means that we are not just educating them about addition, or the Civil War, but about their purpose on this earth is to know and have a relationship with a loving God, who created them in His image for the purpose of knowing and serving Him. Therefore, everything we do is for His glory. That is an eternal mindset.

As Christian educators, there is a need to teach our students all about the word of God. The foundation should be laid and built on to enhance the mind of Christ in the lives of the students God has placed in our hands in our lessons. The salvation of our students that guarantee their eternity is very important.
