Part of classical Christian education is educating the WHOLE child: mind, body, and soul. We are not just teaching them to pass the grade, or to be productive members of society, but to prepare them for eternity with the Lord. Every time I think of this, I am humbled by the calling God has placed on my life.

When you teach a child, you are not just teaching them for the hear and now, but for the rest of there life. When the lecturer mentions that a teacher will educate a student for eternity, she is referring too the moral compass, as well as the knowledge. As Christian educators what is taught in the course will also carry over to adulthood, because the classroom is more then just about the books. It also teaches how to manage emotions and a Christian teacher can be that example of how to handle those feelings for the rest of their life.

I feel the lecturer is saying that what we do/teach them will help them along this Christian journey. As we teach them about who they are, where they come from, and what the future holds should make them excited to know Him and to tell others about Him.

That the most important thing we can teach our students is about Christ and their identity in him. They may forget that awesome math lesson but they will remember the truths of scripture lived out and shared by us.

Christ didn’t come to earth to teach us how to behave just for the purpose of having a nice life here. He came because he wants us to choose to follow him so that we can have eternal life in Heaven with Him. As teachers, it is imperative that we steer our students toward Christ as He is the “way, the truth, and the life and no man come to the Father but through Him.”
