What does the lecturer mean when she says you are here to educate your students for eternity?

When she says that we are here to educate students for eternity, she means we are here to teach God’s word. We need to teach God’s word so students learn where they came from and where their worth is. That way they will accept Jesus as their personal Savior and be in eternity with God.

While teaching reading, writing and other academics, the most important lessons we can teach our students are about their salvation and ultimately leading them to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

I believe this goes well beyond just helping them give their lives to Jesus. Students need to be educated in how a Christian worldview stands against the many forces in the world. So while students need a solid foundation in the Word of God, equally important is teaching them how living for Jesus is going to impact the world, impact their future and equip them for the end times we are living in. We need to teach them that the things they see, the prophecies that have been and continued to be fulfilled are not to be fearful of but watchful of. They all lead to the return of Jesus where we and all who acknowledge and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior will be. Our work is not finished once we get to heaven. I truly believe all the gifts and talents we have been given by God will be used in heaven for our assigned purpose. Being here on earth is our training ground for our even higher calling and specific purpose.

We are educating our students for eternity, because we know that Jesus is the only way to spend eternity in heaven with God. Nothing is more important than directed our students to Christ. This world is temporary. Educating for just the here and now is futile.

Teaching children to believe in God and thereby dwell within him for eternity is by far the greatest lesson we can teach.
