What does the lecturer mean when she says you are here to educate your students for eternity?

We must realize that our lives here are only a brief span in comparison to eternity. My students will forget some of the facts I teach them. I hope that they remember the Christ I pointed them to. The lecturer referenced Revelation and our need to read this book. This helps us to put the decay of the world around us as something to know is leading up to an eternal reign of Christ.

We are not educating for the present. The student’s salvation is far more important than their achievements.

Because humans are created as eternal beings, Christian education should teach about eternity for students.

As Christian teachers, not only do we teach subjects, but we teach people how to have a better relationship with Christ. Our truth should include spiritual transformational knowledge, bridged with the Holy Scriptures.

God created us to be eternal, as He is eternal. Our job as educators is to prepare our students for eternity. We should view our students as Kingdom Citizens and take every opportunity to teach them about the ways of Christ and His Kingdom. We should regularly remind our students to know Him better, to serve Him and to deepen our relationship with Him-because that is what we will take into eternity.
