Muhammad said he began receiving the revelation about AD 610. After being assured this revelation did not come from the evil spirits (of course, it’s from the Bible ) he began to preach them and his disciples memorized them. They put the content into written form after he died and known as “Mother of the Book” which was given to Muhammad, Muslims have come to see the Koran being a true revelation of God.

Islam teaches that before Muhammad came on the scene, Allah had made Himself and His will known through prophets. It viewed many prominent Bible personalities as messengers of Allah. But Muhammad is the greatest, the bearer of Allah’s final message. Muslims believe that the Bible as given to Moses and other prophets honored Allah, but that in its present form it is badly marred by Jewish and Christian corruption. Followers of Islam present their evidence for the unique inspiration of the Koran by calling attention to its literary beauty, its fulfilled prophecies, its scientific accuracy, and its power to transform the lives of those who read it.

Muslims believe the Koran in a word-for-word translation, a book recorded directly from what men memorized directly from the prophet Muhammad himself. Additionally, they cite literary beauty, its fulfilled prophecies, its scientific accuracy, and its ability to transform the lives of those who read it as reasons for the Koran being a true revelation of God.

Muhammad didn’t write, however after he died his followers wrote down his teachings. They hold this Koran as sacred. It cannot be translated because it is too pure in Arabic. They believe this is a word for word translation given by Allah.
