My experience has been that church is full of people. SO there can be lots of challenges. However, God’s love is there to bind our hearts as one.

I have been to churches where they are happy to receive anyone and no matter what want to spread the word. But I have also been to churches where you looked are down upon. Where people would judge you and act like they are perfect. I have found a lot more of those types these days. That is one reason I stopped

I often find myself with mixed emotions when attending my local church. I prefer more of a traditional, rather than contemporary, service. So, the loud, repeated choruses rather than traditional hymns containing theology do not lead me into worship as much as I would like. I sometimes struggle with the timed sequence of the service leaves me feeling like the service is more of a production than a service. I also prefer expository teaching rather than subject oriented preaching. In all of this, I recognize that this is personal preference and have continued to attend and support our church because it is reaching the younger generation but it is a little hard for me.

On the other hand, the teaching/preaching we do receive consistently challenges me to Christlikeness. I truly love reading and studying God’s Word so I am content to invest my life where I am.

Throughout my life as a believer, church attendance has always been a priority for me and my family. It has generally been a positive experience, but finding a strong Bible teaching church has not always been easy to do. It’s always disappointing to see churches that have lost focus on Christ and the Gospel and reaching the lost. I believe that some churches, unfortunately, say that they want to reach the lost until the lost show up. But, I also realize that there is no such thing as a perfect church, and it’s said that when you find it, don’t join it, because you’ll mess it up.

Local church attendance can be a beautiful thing. Getting to worship and study with other believers is so encouraging. However, I have also been in local church settings where the Gospel is distorted.
