What has been your past experience in local church attendance? Explain the positive and the negative.

Strangely enough, I’ve seen very little of the negative aspect of church attendance because I haven’t been established in one particular church for a long enough period at a time. Those in attendance of virtually every various church service I’ve been to have been welcoming and kind to me, even during my time in particular churches that I didn’t fully agree with such as Mormon or certain denominations. I take a very individual approach to my worship, though I see the importance of fellowship, I tend to not get too wrapped up in the social aspect or some of the “church drama” or other baggage that might detract from my time with Christ.

I’ve certainly experienced both the positive and negative aspects of the church. However, I have the understanding that the church is made up of imperfect people and therefore, will not be perfect. Even though there are often times of disunity, there are so many more times where the church has functioned as it should and brought about encouragement and a place to serve using the gifts that God has given us. It gives us a place to serve the community and the world, sharing the gospel to those that don’t know Him!

On a positive side, my present experience is our Pastor and his wife, who drive almost 2 and 1/2 hours to spiritually feed us and are always pointing us to Christ. They are a wonderful man and woman of God. I know that they have flaws, but they separate their personal life from the church, and when we are together it is all about Jesus, prayer, praise, and true worship, but yet here go the naysayers with the jealousy and strife. My present experience is seeing Immature Christians who refuse to grow spiritually, division, gossip, tearing down one another, disobedience, and are disrespectful to our Pastor and his wife, and it is always this same group of individuals.
