Most often it’s a great experience as we all get to share our love for God, and develop friendships with other believers who love the Lord. Downsides can be people arguing at Church and falling outs between people that can make things uncomfortable as their is unforgiveness harbouring in the church

My personal church attendance has been very disciplined. I was taught as a young child that church is important for growth, understanding the Word of God and for encouragement.

In past experience I have become a part of the church. It made me feel a since of belonging and God showed me the gifts He had given me. The negative experience was when you are in a smaller congregation, you are often tasked with performing in another area that you are not gifted to do. The more you do, the more you are given to do. This is a bit overwhelming and can lead to burnout.

I have had the opportunity to participate in prayer groups, teach Sunday School, teach Bible study classes abroad, sing in the choir, usher, and attend a women’s retreat. However, I have also experienced negativity when people speak to me in negative tones and do things to me out of envy.

I grew up going to church almost every Sunday, which was helpful because I heard the gospel from an early age. One of the negative things, however, was that my family got in the habit of just going to the service and not really being involved in other ways. Therefore, there was a disconnect because I didn’t feel like I personally knew any of the people that attended church with us. My wife and I currently go to a large church where, while we still feel that temptation to just go in for the service and walk out, we have successfully plugged into a small group and some serving opportunities that have helped us get to know other people.
