I have seen both positive and negative experiences. I have seen unhealthy, controlling, power-hungry pastors spew false doctrine, call people out in front of the congregation, mislead their congregation and more. I have also seen a church that goes out into the local communities to love and serve like Jesus, send missionaries abroad, create relationships, discuss hard topics in healthy ways, and more. The negatives can easily push someone away from the faith. The positive can help grow the hope we have in Christ and his Kingdom expanding on earth.

The church I grew up in had no focus on discipleship in the youth. This caused our family to move to a different church when I was a sophomore in HS. We love the church we are in now. It is a Bible preaching, discipleship focused church that loves the community well.

Understanding what it takes to get along with each other is a lesson that has to be learned and can be difficult at times.

I have been saved for quite some time and I generally have faithfully attended a local church. Yet there were brief periods where I did not go anywhere consistently because I was unsatisfied and actively seeking a new church. Sadly I was also out of church for a while because I was deeply hurt by a high ranking individual within the church that I was attending. God sent me to a small home church at that time to facilitate my healing and perpetuate my re-entry into the local church. I am now a faithful attendee of the local church where I know God has planted me for this season of my life.
