At first when I was young it was a place of education. Then as I got older and got lost in the world with drug addictions it became a place of judgment, somewhere I did not feel accepted or welcomed. Now in recovery and church involvement it is a hospital for the broken where people can heal from their hurts hangups and habits.

I have been attending church since I was a child. There is a strong legacy within our family lineage that has valued regular local church attendance. We are called to live in community with one another and finding community in the church is a great place to start. The community of believers helps one another to grow in their faith and focus on their individual relationship with the Lord. We can learn from the teaching pastor and others, pray with one another, and be held accountable. We are also called to serve in and through the church, so I have had many opportunities through the years to do that in various ministries. I was not naturally inclined to want to do that, but I grew so much in who I am because of that act of obedience in stepping out of my comfort zone to serve in different capacities. I prioritize going to church in person as much as possible, but appreciate that online options are available when I’m traveling or otherwise unable to make it.

I was fortunate to attend Church from a young age. Sunday School then Bible class as a child and young adult, youth fellowship after that, then regular Church services.

I’ve enjoyed good teaching and fellowship, meeting with Christians for coffee after the service or in the community. I also played guitar in the band.

I thank God for my church attendance experience. It has been a lot of growth from working, learning and fellowshipping with other believers and non-believers. Growing up in a Christian home has been the foundation for me attending church.

Church life has its ups and downs.

I have experienced some amazing works of God in the church – miracles that have sent me away praising God just like the disciples in the Bible!

At other times its a source of great frustration where no matter what we do nothing seems to happen.

I still love the church though and have learned to just roll with the ups and downs.

All we can do is trust God.
