It refers to a deep, personal trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, leading to salvation.

Saving faith is when we believe Jesus died for our sins, resurrected on the 3rd day and is coming back. He is our salvation.

I believe that saving faith has to do with standing on the faith, the belief in Christ Jesus and His atoning work on the cross and in His resurrection, that brings us to and works out our salvation for the day that He returns. In a sense we receive salvation when we first believe, but we must continue in this faith to the end for to receive the completion of salvation.

It is the fact that once someone confesses Jesus as their Lord and Savior, repents and turns away from their sin, they through the process of sanctification come to have a saving faith in God.
