What is the argument against Jesus’ spirit ascending to “a higher level” after His death (instead of the resurrection)?

The Jewish concept of the day regarding the resurrection is a physical resurrection. Jesus taught it and the Pharisees believed it that there will be a general resurrection, that the dead will be raised. There is no room for thought for a “spirit ascending to a higher level” type of event.

Jesus returned to be with the disciples after his resurrection, and he was in physical form. This was reflected in the story of “doubting Thomas” who felt the hand of Jesus and knew that this was indeed the man who had been crucified. Jesus ate and drank with his disciples and was seen as a physical being by many others.

This was not the description the disciples gave, nor was it a Jewish thought or tradition to have celebrated.

The Jews did not believe in this kind of spirit ascendancy. The Jews believed, and Jesus taught, that the dead would be raised.

The arugment against Jesus’ resurrection were as follows:
1. deception by disciples: no rational motive for it
2. disciples stole the body: no means or motive- the grave was guarded
3. Romans stole the body: again no means or motive the grave was guarded
4. Mass hallucination: not possible given the amount of people and all the differenct places people saw Jesus.
